In the article “Mexico: Revolution and Stability” we are presented with a tacit conversation of the Mexican Revolution. In this section of his book, Williamson starts by situating Mexico at the beginning of the twentieth century. He then traces the power of Diaz to Hurta; and in the middle we have political chaos, lies and a thirst for power (or so it seems to me). Answer the following three parts. 1. From the article, mention one sentence or word that either caught your attention or puzzled you. Can you explain why that was the case? 2. Based on the information Williamson presents, what is your understanding of caudillos and cientificos? 3. Williamson titles this section of his book “Revolution and Stability.” We can obviously sense a Revolution unfolding, but where –whatever that may be- is the stability?
