Help me study for my Writing class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

Reading:

Reading 1: Start by reading the assignment for the week then read the short infographic on Howard Gardener’s Multiple Intelligence Theory located below followed by a short work on Emotional Intelligence:

I would do one part at a time and answer the questions about Multiple Intelligence before going on to read about Emotional Intelligence, so that you don’t get the two confused.

Assignment # 1 Multiple Intelligence Theory and Emotional Intelligence Theory

After reading the two articles, I would like you to answer the following questions in short answers that are not only in beautifully complete sentences, but also incorporate a minimum of 10 Academic Power Words (see attached file) that are provided on a separate handout entitled, Academic Power Words. Both sets of questions can be turned in on the same document; you can either cut and paste a document into the email or use an attachment file. Also, feel free to write any questions or comments you have at the bottom of the assignment, and I will answer them to the best of my ability. Normally all assignments are due Friday at midnight of the week they are assigned, but since this week started late I will allow this assignment to be turned in by midnight on Sunday October 4th.

Short Answers part one: Multiple Intelligence Theory (combined answers should be around 2 pages 500 words)

1) What do you consider your three top intelligences, and why? What feedback have you gotten over the years? Give a specific example to support, such as grades, awards, praise from peers, etc.

2) What do you consider your weakest intelligences, according to Gardener’s theory? Have you done anything to try and improve them? What could you do?

3) Given your strengths, and weaknesses, what are you planning on majoring in and/or pursue as a career? How do you hope to utilize your strengths? If your career doesn’t utilize your best intelligences, tell me why you have chosen it anyway. There is no wrong answer, of course, I am just curious.

After reading Gardener’s theory, I would have to consider my top three intelligences to be, “linguistic,” “interpersonal,” and “intrapersonal.” Though I didn’t do well in school for many years in any subject, after failing dramatically on a standardized test, my grandfather took it upon him to teach me how to read. He sat down with me night after night, until I was eventually able to get into the “high” reading group, where all of a sudden I was excelling. He tried to do the same with me for mathematics, but didn’t have the same success. Later, I would end up majoring in English, and teaching English at an “alternative” high school, which required not only linguistic intelligence, but a tremendous amount of interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence as well. In other words, I needed to be able to teach how to write, but also how to manage a large group of disaffected teenagers who didn’t really want to be there. Reminding myself what it was like to be a teenager required a great deal of intrapersonal intelligence, which in turn, allowed me to be more compassionate and sympathetic to them thereby using interpersonal intelligence as well.
